Questions
Asked by funeral directors, answered straight.
A family calls to report a death. What exactly happens?
The assistant says it is sorry for their loss, explains that it is paging the on-call director, and takes two things only: the caller's name and the best callback number, read back and confirmed. Then the call ends — in under ninety seconds — and the page goes to your director by text and email, out within 60 seconds of the call ending. The assistant asks nothing about the deceased, discusses no arrangements, and makes no decisions. Your director calls the family back within minutes, and the real conversation happens with a person, where it belongs.
Will it ever try to comfort or counsel a grieving caller?
No. It offers one sentence of condolence at the start of a first call and one at the end — that is the whole of it. It does not counsel, does not reflect, and does not fill silence with words. Its job on that call is brevity and a fast page, so the family spends as little time as possible talking to a machine.
How does it answer price questions?
From your General Price List, and only from your General Price List. When a caller asks what something costs, the assistant reads the relevant line items exactly as printed on your GPL and offers to email the complete list. It never constructs a total, bundles items, estimates, or rounds — and it never refuses a price question, because under the FTC Funeral Rule, callers have the right to accurate price information by phone. If an item isn't on the GPL we have loaded, it says so and takes a callback for a director rather than guessing.
Do callers know they're talking to an AI?
Yes. The greeting introduces the assistant as your home's virtual assistant, and callers are told the call may be recorded. If a caller asks whether they're speaking to a real person, the assistant answers plainly and offers a director callback. In this business, candor is non-negotiable — for your families' trust and for yours.
Does it integrate with our funeral home software?
There is no integration project — deliberately. The assistant works from your home's own facts and your General Price List, and your case-management software stays exactly as it is. Pages, summaries, and callback requests arrive by text and email, and your staff handle them in your own system as they do today. No new logins, no sync errors, nothing that can break in the middle of a service.
Do we need to change our phone system or our number?
No. You keep your existing number and phones. You forward the calls you want covered — overflow when your directors are occupied, and calls after you close — to the dedicated number we set up for your home.
How fast can we go live?
Onboarding is handled entirely by email and one form — no sales calls, no on-site visits. You send us your home's facts and your current General Price List; we build your configuration, run the full test battery against it, and record a test call for your approval. Our target is the same business day once your facts are confirmed — but nothing goes live until you've listened to the recording and approved it.
What can the assistant do — and what can't it do?
It can answer calls in your home's name; give your hours, location, and service information; quote prices verbatim from your GPL; capture pre-need inquiries and callback requests; and page your director on a first call. It cannot discuss arrangements, advise on embalming or cremation, answer benefits or death-certificate questions, estimate a price, or hold a conversation with a grieving family. Anything outside those lines becomes a captured callback for your staff — which is exactly where it belongs.
Is there a contract? How do I cancel?
No long-term contract. The service is month-to-month, and you can cancel anytime with a simple email. There are no cancellation fees and no retention gauntlet to run.
